What Is A Dry Herb Vaporizer?

Though there are many available in different shapes, sizes and appearances, a dry herb vaporizer will perform in the same way. There are also many types of vaporizers, but the dry herb vaporizer specifically, is a device that allows you to heat dried cannabis. Some dry herb vaporizers will be battery-powered that are referred to as vape pens and portable vaporizers, while there are others that plug into a wall output for its power source and those are called stationary or desktop vaporizers. Either way, the idea is to power a heating element to a specific temperature until vapor is created from the dried herb.

How Does It All Work?

The process is very simple, though it’s very interesting how technology allows the process to happen. You see, when the dry herb is heated to a temperature just below the point of combustion, 392°F is the number recommended, the resin of the flower known as cannabinoids will begin to release, thus creating a vapor like form. Many enjoy dry herb vaping because of its potency without the harmful process of combustion, in turn avoiding carcinogens, tar, etc.

How To Use A Dry Herb Vaporizer?

Using a dry herb vaporizer is rather simple, especially if you have one on-hand. Those that have functions like temperature control will typically only allow 3 to 5 predetermined temperatures to make sure you aren’t overheating or destroying the material. Those that do not have a temperature control function will have one set temperature for the user. To go further in detail on how to use a dry herb vaporizer, below are a few steps so that you know exactly what you’re doing when the time comes.

1. Choosing A Fresh Dry Herb: You’ll first want to choose a fresh dry herb that is high in quality and hasn’t been mildewed. This first step is very important as the higher quality dry herb will give you a purer vapor.

2. Grinding The Dry Herb: You will then want use a grinder to break down the dry herb. This will allow an easier and quicker release of the cannabinoids from the flower. A grinder will do just that, grind the dried herb down into smaller pieces. To do this you can use a small plastic grinder or an electric herb grinder to do the job – the choice is totally up to you.

3. Filling The Vaporizer Chamber/Bowl: Now that your dry herb has endured the grinder part, it’s time to place the herbs into the vaporizer chamber or bowl. The chamber is commonly positioned towards the top of the vaporizer and often rests just below the mouthpiece. It’s recommended that you fill the chamber up to 1/3 to 1/2 of the dry herb chamber, avoiding the potential of over-filling. You do not want to overfill as the dry herb needs room to release the cannabinoids from the flower (this is why you used to the grinder to break the flower down).

4. Using The Dry Herb Vaporizer: To start using the dry herb vaporizer, you’ll likely see a button positioned somewhere on the body of the device. Press the button to activate the heating process and begin vaping the dry herb.

5. Cleaning The Vaporizer Chamber: Once you are finished with your dry herb vape session, it’s wide to clean your dry herb chamber. Simply use a cleaning brush to clean the chamber before or after you empty the vaporizer chamber. If your vaporizer didn’t come with a cleaning brush (most do), then you can buy cleaning tools separately.
