In a recent report by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) showed that there are more than 9 million adults in the United States that vaped regularly in 2014, which is a number produced by the U.S. Census Bureau. This information gives insight that about 3.7 percent of American adults have used electronic cigarettes or some type of vapor product on a regular basis during this time.
What’s interesting about this report for many of us is that these immense numbers are based on the year 2014, and the vapor products industry has done nothing but continued to progress, luring in smokers, dropping the adult smoking rate like never before, and creating a massive movement and community around products that were designed to literally save lives. You could just imagine how much those numbers have increased within just a little over a year and a half.
The CDC Shared Key Survey Findings:
- About 3.7 percent of adults used e-cigarettes every day or some days;
- Almost one-half of current cigarette smokers (47.6%) and more than one-half of recent former cigarette smokers (55.4%) had ever tried an e-cigarette;
- About one in six current cigarette smokers (15.9%) and nearly one in four recent former cigarette smokers (22.0%) currently used e-cigarettes;
- Fewer than 4 percent of adults who had never smoked conventional cigarettes have ever tried an e-cigarette.
These numbers are great, and if by chance some miracle happens where the FDA doesn’t destroy the vaping industry, the numbers could be even greater. The key findings listed about will be a great source of information that’s just interesting for personal use, but could also benefit the Nicopure and R2B Smoke Free lawsuit against the FDA, especially with presenting such large numbers and the “4 percent of adults who had never smoked conventional cigarettes have ever tried an e-cigarette” line.
We certainly have a tough road ahead of us, there’s no doubt there, but positive or neutral statistics will always be good to hear, rather than the usual we’ve been plagued with by the media.
