Overview: Smok X Cube Mini Starter Kit

West Coast Vape Supply

Today, we are going to be giving a brief overview of the Smok X Cube Mini Starter Kit, which consists of the Smok X Cube Mini 75W TC and the Smok TFV4 Mini Tank Kit. It seems that vapers are no longer looking for the biggest, baddest device on the block.  Many vapers, especially those who are just getting into the Sub Ohm tank and regulated box mod market, are not looking for a bulky behemoth.  The rise of the “Sub-Ohm Starter kit” market has shown us as much.  Manufacturers have been paying attention and over the last couple of months they have been rolling back the power and size of their devices, and the Smok X Cube Mini 75W TC mod is the latest to come across my desk.  To me, pairing this with the smaller brother of the TFV4 from Smok seems to be the next logical step.

While the sleek external style of the Smok X Cube Mini is similar to the X Cube II with its brushed metallic finish of the zinc alloy and stainless steel casing.  You will notice in this side by side how much smaller it truly is.  They have managed to condense it horizontally and vertically, effortlessly placing all the components into the smallest space possible: 91mm (L) x 50.6mm (W) x 25.1mm (D)  and weighing in at just 205.7 g.  It features Intelligent Coil Recognition (Recognizes whether your coils made of Nickel 200, Titanium or Stainless Steel), and can efficiently deliver a temperature control range of 200°F-600°F/ 100°C-315°C.  Wattage output ranges from 1-75 Watts on coils from 0.1 to 3.0 Ω . With its super bright OLED screen and adjustment keys on the top of the device, as with its bigger brother it has the side mounted fire button that lights up like a Christmas tree, and uses the same Bluetooth 4.0 technology.  The Smok BEC app can link your device to your phone for various reasons, whether to change your LED colors, track the number of hits you have taken or if you are anything like myself, you can use it to find the device.  The device runs on a single high drain 18650 (sold separately), which is held under a sliding magnetic door.  For the sake of safety, Smok has included a 12-second safety timer on this device to prevent any accidental discharges, as well as short-circuit/ low resistance protection.

Smok TFV4 Mini Tank Kit

While the orignal TFV4 Tank would work perfectly with the X Cube Mini, it made since that in this starter kit they’ve paired it with the smaller, mini version of the TFV4, and with the new innovative coil designs they have put out for this little beast.  You may lose 1.5mL capacity by choosing the Mini Tank, but in all honesty everything else is pretty much the same.  Remember, we are going for smaller design today.  The tank is constructed from durable stainless steel with a Pyrex glass tank.  It has the swing hinge top cap  that everyone has come to love and expect from the TFV4 line, allowing for effortless filling from the top.  We have massive airflow slots in the base of the unit as well as adjustable airflow in the wide bore 510 drip tip.  Now, here is where it gets interesting.  This kit comes with a rebuildable head kit with a prebuilt Clapton coil already installed, as well as a TF-CLP2 Coil Head 0.35 ohm: 30W – 90W (Clapton Dual Coil Head), and a TF-S6 Coil Head 0.4 ohm: 30W – 100W (Sextuplet Coil Head).  That’s right, we said a 6 coil setup.  You also get a ton of other stuff in the kit, including vape bands to prevent accidental drops being the end of your tank, although if you do manage to break the glass they threw a replacement in there as well.

As everything in the world, vaping is following in the footsteps of all modern technology, and it appears that less is more.  We all appreciate the smaller designs that the manufacturers are coming up with, and right now the only thing truly holding them back is the size of the cells we use.  The next innovation we need is the power of replaceable dual 18650’s in the space taken up by one.

As always, enjoy your vaporizer and vape safe!
