The Vaping Guide How To To Vape

How To Vape

Using electronic cigarettes and understanding how to vape is pretty simple. Although it requires more action than the traditional tobacco cigarette, it is far less harmful. Once you grasp what it takes to use an electronic cigarette (which consists of a charged battery and an atomizer/tank filled with e-liquid), here’s some useful tips on how to vape.

  • For your first time inhaling vapor, it’s a lot different to your lungs and it doesn’t recognize it. Your lungs are used to tobacco smoke, which is completely different from vapor. With a traditional cigarette, you pull hard to get smoke, but with vaping – you’ll pull slow and steady. Remember, liquid is inside your atomizer/cartomizer, so you don’t want to pull hard enough to suck that liquid into your mouth.
  • When you inhale vapor, the longer you hold it in your mouth, the less vapor you’ll blow out.
  • There two different types of inhales: one where you pull the vapor into your mouth, hold it there, then inhale the vapor.  The other is where you pull the vapor into your mouth and directly to your lungs without holding it in your mouth.  The first is called a “mouth hit” while the other is called a “lung hit”.
  • Remember, this is about you… so find your own style of vaping and what feels most comfortable to you.

Tip: Many people are beginning to favor lung hits because the products that are being manufactured today are designed specifically for that way of vaping.

  • Vary informative and well explained. Good job, thanks.
My search regards risk of losing the tiny (undetectable) grommet inside the reservoir that can easily be lost while cleaning out the tank. The comparison between a new tank taught me why this “noob” could’nt get my unit to work properly. Thanks for the site.

    • I’m glad you found some use from this guide! I doubt those little grommets are sold anywhere. If I were you, and since tanks are so cheap, just order a new one. I suggest getting an Aspire CE5 BDC. They are super cheap and work flawlessly.

      • Actually, I have found that the grommets are about the same size as the rubber bands used for braces. While they may not be easy to get a hold of if you don’t have kids, they work just as well, if not better.

    • From what I can tell, just go to E-Liquid in the main navigation, choose what you want and click “Add to cart” – If you need further help you can contact PB from the site.

  • Great guide! I just quit smoking yesterday and bought myself a vape starter kit the k101 from a local vape shop. Just wondering is there a guide on how clean and maintain your vape?

  • I have directions that came with mine got from friend what does it mean when green light keeps flashing when I push the button

  • You didn’t write anything about voltage, wattage, resistance, buildings coils, wicks, and such. I read this guide looking for answers mainly about resistance, voltage and wattage but this was no help.

    • It’s been a while since this guide has been updated. I’ll look to add that information at a later date. However, that information is available in the other categories, such as the rebuildable atomizer section, intermediate and advanced section.

  • I second that Rikki, was actually hoping to read a section about coils. I guess this guide has not been updated. Will watch out for it though.

  • Hi, I just got a Bumble Bee disposable vape containing the oil to vaporize. I’ve unpacked it and now don’t know how to work it. I tried sucking from it and some vapor did come out. Is that all there is? How long do I draw vapor from it?

    • Bob, don’t expect much vapor from a disposable e-cig. They’re great if you just want to try out what vapor feels like, but definitely not a number one choice when it comes to vapor production or flavor production. I would go to a local vapor shop and purchase something like a “Evod”, or if you don’t mind the size, an iStick.

  • wrong thos little grommets your reffering too are just O-rings you can find them at essentially any hardware store and specifically one that sells faucets. There are always repair kits around for paintball guns as well that have all of the above needed items. once you find out exactly what size you need you can even lok them up online and order them in 10 25 or even 50 packs . extremely easy to find just have to look outside the realm of your vape shop.

    • You’ll need to purchase a Clearomizer and a bottle of e-liquid. I recommend something like the SubTank Mini. You can even try something like the iSub from Innokin.

  • i purchased the haus system from a local retailer it starts off well but when I use the fruit liquids it starts to leak. I like the frutit liquids and want to get some with no nicotine. What is a good tank that will not melt or leak?

  • Rebuildable atomizer? Does that means that the other atomizer is disposable and should be changed? If so, how often should it be changed?
    More power, JM

    • When using a rebuildable atomizer, the coil must be rebuild/replaced when no longer receiving the required satisfaction. In other words, if the coil you’ve built yourself isn’t performing well, rebuild another, then rewick it. When using a Clearomizer or Sub-Ohm Tank (same thing being that clearomizer is merely the term for all such tanks), you will want to change the replacement coil head when you are no longer receiving results that you are satisfied with – which is typically between 1 week to 3 weeks.

  • Probably a really stupid question BUT I just bought a Kronos R2-50W today my first vape ever and the vape shop I bought it from the lady didn’t speak English very well anyways, what does adjusting the watts do? My goes from 7.0 to 50.0 can you give of to me in simple terms please. Thank you in advance!

    • I’m new here too and would like the same info. I just purchased the sigelei mini book 40w because I don’t know what adjusting the watts does either. I bought my husband an ipv5 200w but I figured I’d play it safe with lower wattage/less options. Haha

      • Sarah, I’ll create a post in the beginner section on this site and add it to the vaping guide page. (real quick though, adjusting the wattage increases or decreases the power delivered to the atomizer that you have on top of your device. The higher the number, the more power is applied.)

  • I’m going to give a try on vaping so i’m looking for a starter kit or a cheap tank but after checking some of your guides i’m still doubting what to choose. I only know that i want above ohm vaping because i already tried sub and didn’t like it.
I was between these 2 but i’m almost sure they’re sub ohm vaping so i will accept opinions: eGo AIO Starter Kit / Cuboid Mini Full Kit — BR, Alan.

    • I recommend plenty of devices on this blog, and that’s because there’s just so many different products available that work great. For a full kit and for someone looking to start vaping, there are plenty of nice cheap options like the eGo AIO, but eventually you’ll probably move on and want something better, something with better battery life, something with more power, and something that truly performs above the “beginner” level. I’ll always resort to the Subox Mini Starter Kit: — In my opinion, it just makes sense to go ahead and buy something that will work great for you now and in the future as you progress in vaping. If you do by chance purchase this starter kit, go ahead and pick up the extra 1.2 ohm or 1.5 ohm coils too.

  • Hi, I used to leave in Malaysia and I bought a sigelei 150W, but I moved so I started making my own coil, I do it with kanthal wire of A-25 and I have a problem, Im not sure how many watts should I use and if the wire I´m using is the right one, when I vape I dont feel a nice taste, sometimes it burns but I have it in 25 watts that it isn´t too much , Im not sure which is the problem, I hope you could help me please,

    Thank you,

  • I am a beginner who found this guide too late! I’ve spent a good deal of $ that i could’ve used towards the right equipment! Oh well, i do enjoy vaping. I smoked for 22 years. I started vaping 2 weeks ago. I had 1 analog cig today….and hated it! My kids are proudvof me! That is an AMAZING feeling. This guide is super detailed and extremely helpful!!

  • Omgoodness this was so helpful and very informative! Thank you sooooo very much!I from a very small town that only has two small shops and neither of them seem to have employees that are willing to explain or even have the knowledge to explain. Your article answered all the questions I’ve had! Thanks again! 😊

  • I have a gpriv 220w with t6 coil and it taste like there’s no flavor or anything tried different watts I have 80 20 juice 9 nic my local vape shop said I have to much nic and it clogs the coil just want to make sure that’s the problem help please

  • Very informative guide! For many who are just starting out vaping, these devices can seem intimidating with all of their functional parts and accessory options, but once you get past the learning curve, it becomes second nature. Thanks for sharing!

  • Hi Folks! I just purchased an Aspire Speeder – WOW! It’s pretty amazing. Or was pretty amazing.. I began playing with some of the settings (watts – currently at 90, V 4.25, temp C 255) and I’m using the 5 coil head. I can’t recall what the original settings are. I’m hoping to get back to big clouds and huge taste. Any advice?

  • I set me kangertech watt only at 20 cause if I go higher than that it already tastes burnt. what should I adjust like the temp what should it be set at?

  • Im having a issues with the gx 350 i charged the 18650 batteries all night long into into the next morning and it said check battery everytime

  • Great article. A lot of new vapers need these questions answered, and a lot of them end up buying the wrong juice and/or equipment. Information like this is what people need in order to successfully make the switch from smoking to vaping. On behalf of all of us here at vistavapors, thanks for spreading the word of vaping to new ears who need to hear it. Vape on!

  • Wow..!!! This article is the best… I’ve been searching for something like this for a while now… I started vaping very recently and had a lot of doubts regarding the same. This article is really the answer to most of it. What you have on page 5 is something a beginner should know about. I bought my first pack e juice two weeks before. They are really great and taste really great. And I agree on the disposable e-cigs, they are not really as they sounds. One of friends bought one and it didn’t even last for even half a day… Its really a waste of money…
Thank you so much for this article… This is really great…
