According to the Canadian Tobacco, Alcohol and Drugs Survey (CTADS), more than 4.4 million Canadians (15%) aged over 15 years use marijuana and related products each year. What do these statistics tell us? More and more people are embracing the use of marijuana and its products thanks to the 2019 Cannabis Act. That said, one of the cannabis substances that has been on the rise in usage is Cannabidiol commonly known as CBD. If you are a cannabis enthusiast, in this article, we are going to tell you everything you need to know about CBD. Read on to learn more.

What is Cannabidiol (CBD)?

CBD is a compound extracted from Cannabis sativa (Marijuana) or Hemp plants. CBD is a non-psychoactive compound which means it does not produce an effect on mental processes. Recent studies have shown that CBD can be used as a drug or dietary supplement. It can also be used to treat various ailments such as epilepsy, anxiety, pain, and muscle disorder (dystonia) among other conditions.

How does CBD oil function in the human body?

Scientists attest to the existence of the endocannabinoid system in the human body. Endocannabinoid is composed of receptors, enzymes, and Cannabidiol. Endocannabinoid works in the presence or absence of Cannabidiol. The system affects appetite, sleep, mood, and memory. Studies have shown that CBD is effective in treating heart diseases like stroke and heart attack. It does that by reducing appetite and treating post-traumatic stresses like anxiety and negative memories. It also blocks the breakdown of a chemical that affects pain in the brain thereby prevents pain. Hindering the breakdown f this chemical increases its concentration in blood. As a result, reducing the psychotic conditions related to schizophrenia.

What is the appropriate dose of CBD?

Studies have shown that the following can be the right CBD mouth dose when treating epilepsy and tuberous sclerosis. For epilepsy, the starting dose as per studies is 2.5mg/kg twice daily in the first week and double the dose in subsequent weeks up to a maximum of 10 mg/kg twice daily for adults. The recommended dose for adults with tuberous sclerosis is 2.5mg/kg twice daily with a double increase per week to a maximum of 12.5gm/kg, twice daily (25gm/kg).

For the children suffering from epilepsy especially Dravet syndrome and Lennox-Gastaut syndrome, the recommended dose is 2.5mg twice per day in the first week and double the dose in subsequent weeks up to a maximum of 10 mg twice daily. The recommended dose for tuberous sclerosis is 2.5mg twice daily with a double increase per week to a maximum of 12.5gm twice daily.

How long does CBD substance stay in the bloodstream?

Scientists have conducted studies to establish the time CBD takes in the human body. They estimated that it takes 2 to 5 days for CBD to be out of the human body once consumed. However, these are some of the factors that determine the period CBD takes in the human body:

  • The form of CBD taken: Is it in the form of oil, pills and capsules, creams and lotion, or edibles.
  • The food is eaten: An empty stomach leads to faster digestion of CBD and hence the shorter time it stays in the body. What type of food, quantity, and frequency of eating affects the time CBD stays in one’s body.
  • How often you take it: The more frequently used the less time CBD stays in our bodies.
  • One’s body: Humans have different body water, mass index, and metabolism rates and
  • Quantity is taken: The higher the quantity, the longer CBD stays in the body and vice versa.

Does CBD Appear in a Drug Test?

CBD compound does not appear in a drug test. However, many CBD products, depending on their quality, contain traces of Tetrahydocanniboid (THC). If you want to avoid traces of THC in your bloodstream, you need to consume CBD isolate and avoid both Full-spectrum CBD and Broad-spectrum CBD.

Where to buy CBD?

There are many online dispensary Canada stores that sell CBD and related products. One thing you need to keep in mind, however, is that not all of those stores deliver what they promise. If you want to buy weed online, you need to consider various factors such as the quality of the products they sell, price, and shipping costs. One of the stores that live up to its promise is the Tale of Two Strains; an online cannabis store that sells the best quality CBD products at affordable prices with free shipping, and complete privacy.
