How To Start Vaping For Under $20

West Coast Vape Supply

In the last 24 hours I have been asked the same question by 6 different smokers, via email and in person. They seem to believe that to start vaping you must pay out around $100 to get away from cigarettes.  When I started vaping, I had an Ego twist style set up that cost around $70 and it worked perfectly fine to get me away from the combustibles.  The top end of the technology table has moved so far forward, a new vaper does not need a 200 watt device as they start out and luckily there are still some companies that are looking out for the new guys.  My job is not only to tell everyone about the latest, greatest and craziest mod on the market, but to find the best deals and simplest devices for those who have no idea what works for them.  Rather than sending them to the local vape shop, I figured I would take up the challenge and show them how to start vaping for under $20.

Innokin iTaste CLK! Starter Kit

The twist style starter kits have come a long way in two years, not just on their price but also on their ability to do their job.  They call this the click because that is what it does every time you adjust the voltage that is being delivered to your coils.  The Innokin iTaste CLK is an 800mAh variable voltage device with passthrough charging capabilities.  The red, yellow, and green lights within the button give you an idea of how much charge you have left before you have to plug it in, and the small and sleek design wont make you feel like you are vaping on a calculator.  The device, which comes with a 510/ego style connector is paired with an Innokin iClear 16D clearomizer tank.  This simple yet effective tank will take coils from a minimum of 1.2 Ω, but the companies recommendation is the 2.5Ω coil they provide.  If you are starting out in the vaping world, you seriously don’t need to sub-ohm, and for $20, this is a great way to get you away from the cigarettes.

Joyetech eGo One XL Kit (2200mAh)

Now, we have just jumped in price range slightly, but allow me to explain why.  The little guy above only has an 800mAh battery pack, but this guy has a 2200mAh battery, making the time between charging much greater, even though it still has that passthrough charging capability.  This guy comes with a 2.5ml Ego One XL Tank, more e-liquid capacity than the last and also comes with a 1.0 and 0.5 Ω coil.  We said beginners don’t necessarily need a sub-ohm tank, but it is always nice to have one.  This comes with 2 interchangeable drip tips, which can also be swapped out for any 510 tip of your choice, and adjustable airflow.  The best thing about this is we are still nowhere near the $100 the smokers thought they were going to be spending.

Price: $33.50

Joyetech eGo One CT Kit 2200mAh

I know, at first glance this one looks identical to the one I just told you about, right?  Almost, but not quite.  It is has an Ego One Tank with a 2.5ml capacity, an adjustable airflow option and an interchangeable 510 drip tip.  The battery is still 2200mAh, but here is where it changes up slightly.  This device has what is known as Constant Temperature technology, or as I like to call it, temperature control without the buttons.  The simplified temperature control prevents dry hits from your mod by keeping specific coils at a certain temperature (if your coil is dry it will rise in temperature and the device wont allow it to fire).  The device can cycle through 3 modes, wattage, which is just raw power from your Kanthal coils, and then 2 different CT (constant temperature) settings for Nickel 200 and Titanium coils.  Once again, this device offers passthrough charging, but if you are using those temperature control settings, you may find that your battery, and juice last longer.

Conclusion

The myth that you can’t start vaping for less than $100 has been busted, you don’t even have to spend $50.  With the devices I have listed above, you can pick them up for less than a carton of premium combustible cigarettes.  If you are buying from your local vape shop, they have a lot of over heads that get attached to the cost of your starter kit, which is why we can find them so much cheaper online.  By buying in person, you have the comfort of knowing it is in your hand and you can take it home immediately, but you may as well save some money to put towards your next mod.

As always, enjoy your vaporizer and vape safe!
