Is the Sigelei-213 a 155 watt device? This is the question being asked in the vaping community. While this is not the first, and definitely wont be the last time a Chinese manufacturer has been accused of over promising to make sales on devices, Sigelei is the first company to allegedly make open threats against a reviewer on social media (we will get down to that part further into the article).
NOTE: We are not judge, jury, or executioner in this matter, but we will do our best to bring you the most accurate information of exactly what has transpired.
The Video
Last week DJLSB vapes, a renowned reviewer who goes the extra mile and a half when it comes to tearing devices down and testing them, brought to everyone’s attention the differences between the advertised specifications of the Sigelei 213 and the actual performance of the device. Over the course of the hour-long video, he took the device apart, checked every setting that the device offered, and showed testing charts for the various applications that the Sigelei had given.

The company advertises that the device is firmware upgradeable, but parts of the connections on the circuit board that would allow this to happen are missing. The temperature control functions on the device do not seem to work correctly, in most cases within 3 hits the cotton in the build was burning through. Sigelei’s own website charts for temperature control settings are so far off the mark it could be laughable, if it wasn’t for the fact that the 213 155 costs almost twice the amount of its competitors. Most importantly of all, even with the lowest resistance build that the device is rated for, using 2 Sony VTC4 batteries (rated for 30 amps), the device would not go any higher than 155 watts.

As it happens, the device does have many great qualities in his eyes, unfortunately the qualities most of us would buy it for are sadly lacking. Sigelei has a lot of competition in the marketplace who can actually deliver on their promises of 200+ watts, so we know that what they have claimed is possible, but instead of admitting the mistakes that they made, they re-branded the 213 as the Fuchai 213 and dropped the price.
The Backlash
Here is where it gets disappointing: as Sigelei caught wind of the video, (or people posing as Sigelei employees) DJLSB vapes, aka Daniel Batista began to receive some serious repercussions.
While we have no way to verify the authenticity of the account holders identity, it would appear as though he annoyed someone enough to make threats against him. There are several more images like the one above, but as we tend to keep things safe for work on GuideToVaping, we will be leaving the crass comments out. I will say however, another person who is allegedly employed by Sigelei (although they deny his existence in the company) feels it is appropriate to conduct business with impunity in public.
As it happens though, one account that was verified as “Sigelei official”, from their customer service department, did ask that the video in question be removed from YouTube. As you can imagine, Mr. Batista’s video is still available and I believe it will be for the foreseeable future.
I’m very familiar with Daniel’s show. As matter of fact he did a review on a device I was about to buy and it saved me a ton of trouble. I keep hearing there are NO DEVICES with dual 18650 batteries that can reach 200 watts. If that’s true sigelei is just one of many making false claims. I can’t speak for the rest of the community, but sadly I’ll never look at sigelei the same, and I own 4 of their devices. Two “old school” 100 watt and 2 150 non tc boxes. This should be a wake up call for us all. I don’t vape even close to 200 watts but the overall inaccuracy of the internals is a big slap in the face to all us vapers. Especially when you start reading your ohm information. I’m curious to see how many other companies are like sigelei. Be nice if Daniel or someone could put out a list of all the rip off companies. The asinine comments/ threats just let’s us know what these businesses really think about us, but really; did we ever think they were our “friends?”
