WTVY News Asks The Wrong Question

West Coast Vape Supply

In a recent report from WTVY News 4, the local news station where I live, titled a report: “Are E-Cigarettes Healthier Than Smoking?” – However, I don’t think this should be the question asked.

This same question is titled with numerous media reports. Why do these reporters continue to beat a dead horse? – Not only is the information publicly available and has been spread throughout every media network, but it’s also merely common sense.

To start, let’s clear up a misunderstanding that many people say when giving an opinion of electronic cigarettes: “E-Cigarettes still have nicotine and that’s what will kill you.”

Indeed, electronic cigarettes do still contain nicotine. And, even though nicotine is used with them, that doesn’t mean that everyone who uses an e-cig, uses nicotine. Those people who do not use nicotine with their electronic cigarette is referred to as “No-Nic” vapers. Nicotine is addictive, we all know this. However, that doesn’t mean it doesn’t carry its own benefits. Nicotine improves attention, immediate and long-term memory, learning, reaction time and problem solving. Results of studies also demonstrate that Alzheimer’s patients have significant perceptual and visual attention deficits which are improved by nicotine administration.

It isn’t the nicotine that will kill you, it’s the smoke. Electronic Cigarettes aren’t combustible, and create only vapor.

While traditional cigarettes contain more than 4,000 chemicals, e-cigarettes are consisted of 4 main ingredients: Vegetable Glycerin, Propylene Glycol, Nicotine and Flavoring. Nicotine is enjoyed by many, and that is why they a lot of people use electronic cigarettes as an alternative to smoking – simply because they enjoy the use of nicotine. Vegetable Glycerin (VG) can be found in soups, broths, rice cakes, dried fruit, cereals, mustard, candy bars, gum, marshmallows, cheese, puddings, chocolate milk, eggnog, sports drinks, beer, wine, lotions, shampoos, toothpaste, among many more. Propylene Glycol (PG) can be found in pet food, cakes mixes, salad dressings, soft drinks, popcorn, food coloring, sour cream, lotions, baby wipes, shampoo, lipsticks, lubricants, sanitizer, soap, asthma inhalers, among many more. And, flavoring can of course be found in many things we eat and drink on a daily basis.

Though I enjoyed watching the position report on electronic cigarette by my city’s local media network, I wish they would start asking “why are some people against this alternative and why aren’t we promoting it more?”

E-Cigarettes are literally saving lives each day, and it frustrates me to know that the media isn’t reporting how wrong and deadly it is for others to be against this miracle alternative that is called an electronic cigarette.
