The Sigelei Fuchai has been a fan favorite for almost a year because of its simplicity and form factor, yet it shows no signs of slowing down. Seen as an easy to use 200 watt vaping device, many people regard it as both solid and appealing. Compared to many newer devices on the market however, it has its limitations. Fortunately, those limitations are often over-looked due to its low price.
It’s a no frills, no fuss device that folks seem to love; it feels good in the hand, and it does what it’s supposed to do. Over the next couple of minutes we’re going to break it down and look at exactly how it works so that if you pick up a Fuchai for the first time today, you can use it without a problem.
The Basics of The Sigelei Fuchai
The Fuchai measures in at 102mm by 56.5mm by 24mm and it’s powered by a pair of high drain 18650 batteries. Its rubberized coating makes the device feel comfortable in the hand and less slick than some of its painted competition. It has a voltage range of 6.4 to 8.4 volts and Sigelei claim it has a wattage range of 5 watts to 200 watts, although over the last year we have found that Sigelei’s idea of 200 watts is closer to 155. They may have slightly oversold the ability, but most people don’t buy this device for its top-end power performance.
The Fuchai does support temperature control options for Ni200 Nickel wire and T1 Titanium coils, but lacks settings for Stainless Steel as when it was made no-one was using this coil type and the device has no upgrade function. The Fuchai is a solid device, however, people who can normally destroy vape mods in a few weeks (I’m including my old lady in that category) will be able to keep using the Fuchai even after they have dropped it, kicked it, and generally abused it.
Before Turning The Fuchai On
Make sure the 2x 18650 high-drain batteries are installed correctly. They go into the device in series and their polarity is clearly marked. If you manage to put them in the wrong way, the device has reverse polarity protection and will not turn on until you have them in the correct way.
Getting Started
Powering Up the Fuchai: Simply hit the fire button 5 times within 3 seconds to get the device up and running. As long as you have an atomizer on the 510 connector, after the Fuchai load screen it will go straight into vaping mode – otherwise you will just get the check atomizer warning. To turn the device back off, hit the fire button 5 more times rapidly.
Getting Into The Menu: Pressing the Up and Down adjustment keys simultaneously for 3 seconds will open up the menu options to choose between NI/PWR/TI and unless you intend to kick off in temperature control choose PWR for regular Kanthal or NiChrome coils. Choose the appropriate setting using the Up and Down arrows, then use Fire to select.
Adjusting The Wattage: After choosing power mode the Up and Down buttons become your adjustment keys once again to navigate between 5 and 200 watts. This is seriously one of the simplest mods on the market and there are no hidden menu systems to confuse you. Just remember the higher the wattage, the faster you go through e-liquid and battery power and you have to make sure that you aren’t going too high for the coils you have installed.
Using The Fuchai For Temperature Control
We’ve already shown how to get into the menu settings for T1 Titanium coils and Ni200 Nickel coils. When either of these settings are selected, the Up and Down arrows change from wattage adjustments to temperature adjusters. The Fuchai works in both Centigrade and Fahrenheit; you select between the two by scrolling all the way to the minimum or maximum settings of the other. You have a range of 100°C to 300°C (212°F to 572°F), so finding the sweet-spot for your taste and coils power should be easy.
Other Features
Automatic Shut-Off: If you accidentally hit the button in PWR mode, the Fuchai will cut itself off after 10 seconds. If the device is in Ti or Ni modes, it will go to sleep after 20.
Locking The Fuchai: Preventing the device from accidentally activating while it’s in the bottom of your bag is always a good idea and short of turning the device off, Sigelei also included a complete lock feature. Pressing the Up arrow and then the Fire Button will completely disable the Fuchai – no firing, no adjustments – making the device completely inert until you hit the Up button and then Fire again. It is quicker than waiting for the device to power up again and keeps both you, and your Fuchai, safe from harm.
