Increase The Lifespan of Your E-Liquid

cuttwood monster melonsWhen it comes to e-liquid, there isn’t much of a concern since we use the product and finish it within days of purchasing it.  It’s claimed that e-liquid has a one year life expectancy and within that one year, your e-liquid will maintain its freshness and quality.  However, there are many of us out there that will purchase our e-liquid in large quantities to help save money, and those are the main people who should be reading this portion of the article.  It is always our concern as consumers to keep our purchased product fresh, no matter if we’re only going to have it for a week or two… and, that’s where this information becomes important.

The first thing you must know is that it’s always recommended to store your e-liquid in a cool and dark place, and avoid exposing it to air.  One thing e-liquid suffers from is oxidation, and you’ll notice this chemical reaction when your e-liquid begins to change color.  Nicotine is a very susceptible substance, which means that it can be easily influenced by another chemical.  It can change colors from a simple reaction to other ingredients in the e-liquid or from being exposed to the air, since oxidation is to combine or become combined chemically with oxygen.  The reaction can also be the result of exposure to light or heat, which is why e-liquid manufacturers will recommend that you store the product in a cool and dark place, as mentioned before.  By doing this, you’ll prolong the e-liquids intended taste.

You can try to prevent the darkening of your e-liquid all you want, however, the truth is that it’ll change color no matter how much you try to prevent it, even when stored properly, and that’s because the nicotine itself will darken.  Furthermore, e-liquid is also known to produce tastes that are unintended, and that’s because the Vegetable Glycerin ingredient in e-liquid tends to caramelize on coils, causing them to result in a thick gunk that rests and alters the taste of your e-liquid.  Though, if you’re vaping consistently, you’ll never experience this gunk that forms.  Ultimately, it comes down to you doing everything you can to prolong the life expectancy and maintain the quality of your e-liquid in any way possible, so by knowing this information and following the recommendations, you’ll be able to increase the lifespan of your e-liquid.
